First Home owners grant - Important Information

With the introduction of the Rudd Government's Economic Stimulus Package, eligible First Home Owners are able to apply for an increased grant to assist in the purchase of a new Home, with greater incentives for acquisition of new stock in the Housing Market.

Rae & Partners, in conjunction with leading Real Estate Firms, has put together a package which will treat First Home Buyers as Preferred Clients.

We have posted to this site details of eligibility criteria applicable to the FHOG scheme. Information extracted from the Application form can be accessed here.

We have also posted details of our special package to assist applicants with the Legal work necessary on acquiring their first home. The details are accessible here.

In the meantime:

We have extracted the following useful overview concerning applications:
  • The Scheme is being administered by the State Revenue Office (Tas)
  • Application Forms are available from financial institutions and Service Tasmania
  • We have been advised that the preference is for applicants to lodge the form through their lender. This enables the grant to be available at settlement of the transaction.
  • If applicants wish to lodge the form "privately" the grant will not be made available until some time after settlement and on production of supporting evidence.

This useful site, maintained by Tasmania's Department of Treasury and Finance, includes an eligibility questionaire and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

The Commonwealth Government FHOG Site www.firsthome.gov.au has a downloadable application form in PDF (Adobe Acrobat) Format. The Form for Tasmania, (there are variations from jurisdiction to jursidiction), is available by clicking on the Application Form link after choosing "Tasmania" from the drop down box.

From this page you can download and Print the Application Form. You will need Acrobat Reader to view and Print the Document.
